New Live Online Workshop!
Foundations of Arts-Based Education and Design Thinking: An Introduction
It's been amazing to engage with your emails and chat with some of you through Insta DMs about your thoughts on creativity, education, social interactions, and everything in between. I'm thrilled to announce my first live online workshop for this year, scheduled for later next month. This workshop reflects my extensive teaching and learning design experience spanning 14 years in dual sector university and community settings. I have a wealth of knowledge to share, including two learning design frameworks and a detailed exploration of my arts-based approach to learning within community settings, highlighting its significant impact on our mental and physical well-being. This will hopefully be one of many sessions to come that I can offer you on a semi-regular basis.
Foundations of Arts-Based Education and Design Thinking: An Introduction
What will we cover?
Introduction to Arts-Based Education
Exploring the history, principles, and benefits of integrating arts into education no matter the learning context. What is Design Thinking?
Defining design thinking and its relevance to education and learning resources.Interdisciplinary Connections
Exploring the intersection of arts-based education and design thinking and their potential to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Who’s it for?
You might already know that I haven’t been able to stick to a linear career path in education; teaching and guiding others feels like a calling but my expertise in learning design and visual arts helps me communicate the big picture and solve problems. So, that said I have a few humans in mind for this workshop. I think it will suit all educators no matter the learning environment you find yourselves in, educational/learning designers, and instructional designers.
You will learn more about how to integrate arts-based methods and approaches with design thinking principles. Super juicy topics! You might even be in a social media marketing role and looking to give your educative type posts an edge that will resonate with a broader audience and promote how your business/product is doing ‘good’ for the world.
Book it in!
First up is an interactive 2.5-hour workshop that I will be facilitating via Zoom, Wednesday 20 March 2024 from 6 – 8:30 pm AEDT (Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra time). I have capped places to 20 to ensure the best engagement with me and allow for plenty of robust discussion. Once you register you will get a workshop bundle that will allow you to record your ideas and observations throughout the session and a range of extension exercises you can apply later in your own practice.
